Anyone who has had legal research published by the Center for International Legal Studies and has been designated an Honorary Fellow and continues to support the activities of the Center for International Legal Studies is eligible for inscription as an "Honorary Fellow and Member of CILS". Honorary CILS Members hold concurrent membership in the Congress of Fellows of the Center for International Legal Studies.

Any academic or practitioner, in good standing and of sound professional repute, who has published original research and writing with the Center for International Legal Studies or served as a faculty member at its conferences, seminars or symposia is eligible to inscribe as a member of the CILS Congress of Fellows.

Associate status in the Center for International Legal Studies is available to lawyers, academics, and law students in good standing and committed to the transnational study and practice of law.
